Holiday packing and pre-getaway chores causing you to feel overwhelmed? Take a look at Titan Travel’s handy travel checklist for a smooth start to your next adventure, guaranteed.
Is there anything as exciting as counting down the days to your next holiday? That said, the pre-departure planning and tasks can sometimes get a little overwhelming. That’s why we’ve compiled this handy guide – from practical arrangements to make before you leave home, to nailing the packing process, this ultimate holiday checklist will ensure your adventure gets off to the smoothest start possible.
The importance of a holiday packing list
No one wants to spend what should be an exciting time – the lead up to a holiday – feeling stressed out, which is why it’s key to have a comprehensive holiday checklist for packing and pre-departure jobs. After all, it’s almost impossible to remember everything otherwise.
Along with some top tips in this blog, we’ve included two thorough lists – a holiday packing checklist and a pre-departure checklist covering all the must-dos before you leave home. They’re easy to download and print off, so you can keep them pinned to the fridge or on your bedside table. Alternatively, simply tick them off online as you go, on whatever device works for you.
Essential travel checklist
Do your research
It might sound obvious, but it’s easy to get caught out if you’ve not researched the destination you’re travelling to in advance. That includes making sure you’re up to date with any travel advice or restrictions, understanding cultural norms (and therefore any specific clothing requirements), and keeping a close eye on the weather forecast so that you can pack accordingly.
Make the relevant phone calls
It’s a good idea to contact your bank and credit card companies ahead of travelling, so you don’t have any issues while you’re away and to make sure you’re fully informed about any transaction charges. The same goes for your mobile phone provider, so you’re clear on any roaming fees.
Take care of household chores
From unplugging appliances to clearing out the fridge and dropping a spare key to a loved one, there’s a whole host of things to take care of at home before you jet off on your travels.
Packing for your holiday: a list of essentials
Clothing
It goes without saying that you’ll need to pack enough underwear, socks, shoes, and comfortable clothing for the duration of your trip. Think about any weather-appropriate attire you’ll need, too, such as waterproofs, walking boots or sea shoes, or a hat and sunglasses to protect from the rays in warmer climes. You’ll need to consider your itinerary, too – are there are any special dinners that may warrant something more formal, for instance?
Toiletries
All the essentials, such as your toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and travel-sized shampoo and conditioner, along with sunscreen, skincare products, razors, hair and make-up products.
Don’t forget your tech
Chargers for your phone, camera, and other devices. A universal adapter is a great addition if you’re traveling abroad to save on space. It’s a good idea to load your electronics with any books, movies, and music for downtime in advance.
Travel essentials
Must-haves for comfort during long journeys include things like a travel pillow and eye mask, a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated on the go, and any medication you’ll need during the journey.
So, wherever you’re jetting off to, our holiday checklists will help keep you organised. They’ll make sure you’re not missing anything – whether it’s a fancy handbag for an evening out, or something more vital like medication. Leaving you to get on with the important bit – enjoying yourself!
