Unforgettable  Costa Rica tours

On our holidays in Costa Rica, discover bottle-green rainforests and cloud forests shrouded in mist. Brooding volcanoes watching over hot springs and pineapple plantations. Golden sandy beaches playing host to tiny baby turtles. The weather’s warm, the scenery’s glorious and the warm, friendly locals live by the saying ‘pura vida’ (pure life).

It’s a nation that’s big on sustainability. Great swathes of the country have protected status, allowing wildlife to thrive. Our Costa Rica holidays are designed to show you a slice of this biodiverse wonderland – you’ll glide through mangroves in search of toucans and caiman, hike through forests surrounded by monkeys and macaws, and encounter jewel-like hummingbirds en route to breakfast at laid-back lodges.

It’s not all about animals, though. On our Costa Rica tours we can also show you San Jose’s neoclassical mansions, teach you the secrets of Tico cuisine and give you a taster of Costa Rican coffee culture.

What our experts love about Costa Rica tours

“Sustainability and environmental protection is a very important part of Costa Rican culture and as a result it's a world leader in this field. We experience a bit of this with a boat ride on the astounding man-made wonder, Lake Arenal and see the impressive hydro-electric dam, which contributes to the fact that 98% of the energy produced in the country is renewable. It really is stunning, with Arenal volcano watching over us as we make our way across the lake.”

More information about Costa Rica

What can you expect on a Titan holiday in Costa Rica? Expertise, for starters. We plan out our itineraries carefully to ensure you get the most out of your time away, drawing on 40-plus years of escorted touring experience. We also know how valuable local expertise is, so we recruit local guides and tour managers who are also trained naturalists – experts in Costa Rica’s flora and fauna. We also have very specific maximum group sizes for our Costa Rica tours to make for a sociable yet intimate experience that’s perfectly suited to the itinerary.

On our Wild Costa Rica escorted tours, we allow a maximum of 18 guests; for Natural Wonders of Costa Rica, it’s 21. We like to take care of the little things, too – our Costa Rica holidays might be adventurous, but we also want you to be comfortable. In Tortuguero National Park, for example, normally visitors are limited to a small overnight bag for their stay, but we’ve organised a special arrangement so that you can have your suitcase with you at the lodge. And in San Jose, we’ve negotiated early check-in, so you can refresh and relax if your flight lands early.

As with all of our holidays, you'll also enjoy our signature VIP door-to-door travel service, taking you to and from the airport in hassle-free comfort, while our tour managers will be by your side every step of the way ensuring everything runs smoothly. Finally, you’ll enjoy the peace of mind that your holiday is safe - we’re ABTA bonded and ATOL protected, and our Protection Promise means you can book with complete confidence.

Between December and April for the Pacific coast, and from March to September for the Caribbean side, offer the perfect weather conditions to enjoy the natural beauty of this tropical paradise. However, if you want to avoid the crowds and experience the country's transition between seasons, consider visiting during the green season from May to June or in November.

You may want to avoid the heavier rainfall in September and October, keeping in mind that, as a tropical destination, rain is always a possibility regardless of the season. Nevertheless, it's this rainfall that keeps the country's landscape so lush and vibrant. So, pack accordingly!

The official and most widely spoken language in Costa Rica is Spanish. English is used in areas frequented by tourists.

We carefully plan our itineraries to avoid unsafe destinations and are constantly referring to government travel advice in case situations change. We will always keep you informed of any issues. That said, it's always worth taking precautions to deter pickpockets when travelling through large crowds or on public transport by making sure your bag has a secure zip and its place across your body. Avoid walking around in the evening alone or wandering anywhere not recommended by your tour manager.

The phrase 'pura vida' translates to 'simple life' or 'pure life'. It has a versatile meaning, serving as a greeting or goodbye, expressing positivity, or conveying gratitude. Today, it has evolved beyond its literal meaning to represent a relaxed, optimistic outlook on life.

The official currency in Costa Rica is the colon and is widely accepted. US dollars can also be used in some instances, while many retailers, hotels and restaurants accept major credit cards.
