Classic Spain tours
The white-sand beaches of Mallorca, Andalucia’s age-old bodegas and flamenco bars, Catalonia’s sleepy seaside towns – whether you’re rekindling a love affair with an old favourite or striking out to explore somewhere new, there’s always plenty to discover on Spain holidays.
From island stays to rural road trips, our Spain tours are designed to capture the spirit of this incredible destination, from its fiestas to its gastronomic feasts to its fiercely proud traditions. Each one includes insightful excursions and immersive experiences, designed to help you to go beyond the guidebook favourites.
Explore the great historical cities of Granada, Cordoba and Seville, or spend a week living like a local in coastal-cool Valencia. Cruise across serene Lake Banyoles or past Mallorca’s dramatic Cap de Formentor. For a real adventure, why not embark on a tour across Iberia, taking in the sights and sounds of both Portugal and Spain?
As for food and drink, on our Spain holidays you can expect to eat exceptionally well, whichever region you’re exploring. Dine on delicious tapas and pinxtos. Perhaps learn to make the perfect paella. And toast it all with a glass of cava, sherry or rioja.

What our experts love about Spain
Of all the amazing sites we visit on our Spain tours, the Mezquita mosque cathedral in Córdoba is my favourite. It's simply breathtaking and an incredibly well-preserved monument that pays homage to the two religions and cultures that have shaped Andalucia.

Summers in Spain can be incredibly hot, which makes sightseeing a little uncomfortable. We time our Spain escorted tours for spring, early summer and autumn, when the weather is pleasantly warm – perfect for exploring and dining al fresco.
What currency is used in Spain?
Spain uses the euro (€). Credit and debit cards, and mobile payments such as Apple Pay, are widely accepted.
What is siesta?
Siesta is traditionally a break of a couple of hours in the afternoons, when shops, restaurants and other businesses close. Although it’s not as common in the bigger cities as it once was, you’ll still find businesses observing it in many smaller towns and villages, so it’s worth bearing in mind if you’re planning on shopping or eating out.
Is tap water safe to drink in Spain?
Yes, it’s safe to drink tap water in Spain. Avoid pricey bottled water by bringing an insulated water bottle with you, which can be topped up and kept cool while you’re out and about.
Is Spain expensive to visit?
Not particularly – the Post Office’s annual Holiday Money Report even lists the Costa del Sol as one of the best-value holiday destinations. Our Spain touring holidays include a lot in the price, so things like hotels, excursions and some meals are already paid for. If you’d like suggestions for good-value local restaurants or cafes, your tour manager will be happy to make recommendations.
What is the food like in Spain?
There are plenty of delicious dishes to try on Spain holidays, from traditional paellas in Valencia to Andalucian gazpacho and sweet, custardy crema catalana. Tapas or pintxos are great for trying a little of everything, or for nibbling on with a glass of wine. At food markets, look out for tastings of renowned ingredients like jamón iberico, Manchego cheese and chorizo.
Do I need to tip in Spain?
Tipping is customary for good service – around 10% of the bill is common in restaurants. Tour guides and drivers will appreciate a small tip, perhaps a couple of euros per day. Remember that porterage is included in our Spain tours, so there’s no need to tip for bags.
Do I need a visa for travel to Spain?
Currently, UK citizens don’t need a visa to travel to Spain. Requirements can change, though – for the most up-to-date information on visas, please use the quick-check tool on our visa requirements page.
