San Francisco to Seattle with an Alaskan Voyage
We love...
Gazing up at some of the tallest trees in the world along the Avenue of the Giants. Listening for the whoosh of a humpback whale as it breaks the surface of the water.
Embark on an unforgettable journey through some of the most stunning landscapes and vibrant cities of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. A trip of two wildly different halves, we’ll begin by exploring the cosmopolitan metropolis of San Francisco, the picturesque vineyards of Santa Rosa and the ancient forests of Redwood National Park. Then, after visiting Crater Lake National Park and taking a scenic drive through the state of Oregon, we’ll venture into the icy wilderness of Alaska as we embark on an incredible seven-day cruise to glistening glaciers and historic native towns.

Day 2 - San Francisco
This morning, you’ll get to know the ‘City by the Bay’ on a guided tour. We’ll see historic Fisherman’s Wharf, awash with seafood restaurants and street performers - we may be lucky enough to spot sea lions sunbathing on the docks. We’ll see winding Lombard Street, often called the ‘crookedest street in the world’ due to its sharp curves. The afternoon is yours to discover the sights and sounds of San Francisco under your own steam. You could opt for a cruise around the bay, walk the length of the Golden Gate Bridge, or perhaps venture back to Fisherman’s Wharf for fresh crab and clam chowder by the water.

Day 3 - Santa Rosa - Eureka
Our first port of call today is the city of Santa Rosa. Where wine country meets beer city, Santa Rosa has earned its reputation as the craft brew capital of the USA. We’ll visit a local winery for a tour and tasting, where we’ll learn about some of best-known wines in this region too. This afternoon we witness the Avenue of the Giants, one of the most breathtakingly beautiful drives in the country. The route - a section of the old Highway 101 through Humboldt Redwoods State Park - takes us through forests home to some of the tallest and most ancient redwoods in the world. Then it’s onwards to the historic coastal town of Eureka. The evening is free to explore - we love wandering through the Old Town’s Victorian architecture - or go for a sunset stroll along the waterfront esplanade.

Fed purely by rainwater and melting snow, the waters here are some of the clearest and purest in the world and it’s the deepest lake in the US. The surrounding slopes of the volcano are blanketed in woodland, with plenty of viewpoints for taking in the scenery. We take time to absorb the natural beauty of the park before continuing to Bend for an evening at leisure.
