See the New 7 Wonders of the World with Titan Travel
In a world packed with jaw-dropping wonders, picking just seven seems almost impossible. But back in 2007, millions cast their votes to crown the ultimate modern marvels. From ancient fortresses to mystical lost cities get ready for a whirlwind tour of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
1. The Great Wall of China

First up is the legendary Great Wall of China, snaking its way across more than 13,000 miles of rugged landscapes. Its sheer size is mind-blowing – a towering tribute to centuries of determination and ingenuity. Originally built to fend off invaders, today it attracts millions of visitors each year. Walk its weathered stone paths, and you'll feel history beneath your feet (and in your legs the next day), with sweeping views that make you stop and take it all in.
Top tip – Hike the Jinshanling section for spectacular views and fewer crowds.
2. Petra, Jordan

Hidden deep in the Jordanian desert, Petra, often called the "Rose City" because of its stunning pink sandstone cliffs, is an ancient civilisation carved directly into rock. Once a thriving trade hub of the Nabateans, its grand temples and tombs still continue to impress today. Nothing can prepare you as you leave the confines of Siq canyon and are met with the 2,000-year-old, perfectly preserved Treasury (Al-Khazneh). And yes, it looks just as impressive in real life as it does in the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Top tip – Visit at night when Petra is illuminated by thousands of candles. The soft glow flickering against the rose-red rock makes the Treasury feel even more mysterious.
3. Christ the Redeemer, Brazil

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is already famous for its beaches, carnival, and samba, but towering above it all is the 98-foot-tall statue of Christ the Redeemer. Perched on Mount Corcovado, this art deco masterpiece has become one of the most recognisable religious monuments in the world. The statue itself and the views from the top are equally jaw-dropping, with Rio sprawled out beneath you and the endless shores and lush mountains surrounding the city.
Top tip – Go early in the morning or at sunset to beat the crowds and catch the best light for photos.
4. Machu Picchu, Peru

Hidden in Peru's misty Andes Mountains, Machu Picchu is the crown jewel of the Inca Empire. This 15th-century citadel was abandoned – some say indirectly due to the Spanish Conquest and remained largely undiscovered for centuries. Perched at nearly 2,430m above sea level, its construction is a testament to Inca inventiveness – stones so precisely cut they lock together without mortar, as if history itself wanted them to endure. Whether you hike the Inca Trail or take the scenic train ride, the moment you see this mystical city emerge from the mist, you’ll understand why it made the New 7 wonders of the world list.
Top tip – Watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate. It’s quieter up there too, giving you a front row seat.
5. Chichen Itza, Mexico

Once a powerful Maya city, Chichén Itzá in Mexico is most famous for its remarkable El Castillo pyramid – a 30m tall temple with 365 steps, one for each day of the year. It’s so precisely built that during the equinox, the sun creates the illusion of a serpent slithering down its steps. Explore the vast Great Ball Court, where ancient games had life-or-death stakes, the chilling Tzompantli (Temple of Skulls), and the impressive observatory, proof that the Maya were brilliant astronomers.
Top tip – Stand in front of the pyramid and clap – your echo will sound like the call of the sacred quetzal bird!
6. The Colosseum, Italy

If walls could talk, the Colosseum in Rome, Italy, would have some of the greatest stories to tell. Built in AD 80, this colossal amphitheatre was the heart of Roman entertainment, where fearless gladiators clashed, chariots raced at breakneck speed, and wild beasts roared – all to the deafening cheers of thousands. Today, though weathered through time, it stands as a powerful symbol of both Rome’s imperial past and its enduring legacy.
Top tip – Take a nighttime tour – the dim lighting and eerie silence make it feel like stepping into the past.
7. The Taj Mahal, India

Some monuments are built for power, others for faith – but the Taj Mahal? It was built for love. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned this white marble masterpiece in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, and nearly 400 years later, it remains one of the most romantic spots on earth. The Taj’s beauty is indescribable – especially at sunrise, when its marble facade glows with soft hues of pink and gold.
Top tip – View the Taj Mahal from across the Yamuna River for a quiet, reflective experience away from the crowds.
